Many triangles appear on this Pomo Indian basket. Notice how color is used in the tiny forms inside the bigger triangles. The Pomo Indians made nearly everything out of plant material, including their houses, clothes, and tools. They intertwined coils of plant fibers to construct their baskets, which were used both to store food and for ritual ceremonies.
After 1890, non-Indians began to collect Indian baskets, and those made by the Pomo were among the most coveted because of their skillful construction, range of color, and distinctive designs.
